Would UN and OAS suspend, or expel Venezuela, were it to defy a favourable ruling on referendum?
Dear Editor,
Were the ICJ to rule favorably on the provisional requests of Guyana, and Venezuela still proceeds with its unlawful referendum, would world bodies such as UN and OAS suspend or expel that country from membership of those organizations?
For the UN, it might have to be the Security Council which will have to vote on such a move.
Vetoing is envisaged by some countries. What does the Charter of the OAS say on such a measure?
