GCB Senior Inter-County 50-Over tournament…
Kaieteur Sports – Senior Inter-County 50-Over action continues across the country with Essequibo playing Demerara while Berbice tackle the GCB Select XI as part of today’s exciting Double-header.
Essequibo will be keen on making further use of their fortune at Bourda when they play the home team. Captain Anthony Adams, Ricardo Adams, Kemol Savory, Malcolm Hubbard and Quentin Sampson all played big roles with bat/ball on Sunday and will be keen on continuing their form.
Demerara got off to a shaky start but with Akshaya Persaud, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Qumar Torrington, Sherfane Rutherford all peaking from the last game, they could easily upset their opponents.
After a horrendous loss to Essequibo on Sunday, the GCB Select XI will be keen on regaining some confidence come today when they play the star-studded Berbice at Enmore Ground.
Berbice, despite having a low score in the first match will want more from their stars like, Rampertab Ramnauth, Anthony Bramble, Kevlon Anderson, Kevin Sinclair, Romario Shepherd who can easily get their team to 300.
While the batting failed, The GCB XI will have to contend with the likes of opposition captain Veerasammy Permaul and off-spinner Kevin Sinclair, who snagged 7 wickets in his team’s huge win recently and CPL Champion spinner Gudakesh Motie.
Pacers Shepherd, Clinton Pestano and Shamar Joseph will also provide the jetfuel in the fast-bowling department.
Although their previous match ended in a loss, Captain Junior Sinclair, the 2023 CPL breakout player, grabbed 3 wickets in the last match while speedster Isai Thorne finished with 4 victims, and as they managed to gather a bit of confidence ahead of this encounter.
