Guyana vs. Jamaica Day 1
– Guyana 65-2, (Deonarain 33*, Shiopersaud 8*)
Kaieteur Sports – Brian Barnes scored a century for Jamaica on the opening day, as his team enters day 2 with 135 runs lead over Guyana when Round 1 bowled off yesterday.

The Jamaicans were indebted to Barnes after he smashed 114 off 117 with 10 fours and 5 sixes, to propel his team to 200-9 in 53.1 overs.
Opener Kev’Aundre Virgo (18), Jordan Pinnock (22), David Dewar (16) and Roshwan Mckenzie (15), were the other scorers for Jamaica.
Guyana’s bowling was shared up amongst a few guys who returned a wicket each, but it was the consistent Matthew Pottoya who continues to impress, leading with (3-32) while Bruce Vincent (2-34), lent support.
When stumps arrived, Guyana were solidly placed on 65-2, needing to do some work come today in order to save/win this first encounter.
Rampersaud Ramnauth dug in for 21 off 49 before he was dismissed while opener Romeo Deonarain (33*) and Nicholas Shiopersaud (8*) will resume their innings today as they seek to press onwards.
