Cougars, Paradise score wins in BFA tourney
Kaieteur Sports – There was football action in Berbice recently when the Berbice Football Association (BFA) First Division competition continued in the Ancient County.
Two matches were played at the Rosignol Ground with Cougars and Padadise scoring victories.
Results of the two games played showed Cougars Football Club of New Amsterdam taking advantage of Fyrish as they inflicted a 9-0 drubbing on their hapless opponents.
Leading the route for the Cougars were the Sommersell brothers with a combined five goals. William Sommersell led the way hammering home a hat-trick with his brother Timothy Sommersell finding the back of the net twice. The other goal scorers were Kwesi Mickle, Ray Reddock and Lomar Reid with an own goal accounting for the ninth.
In the other game, Paradise had to work overtime to squeeze past Hope Town United by a 1-0 margin. Compton Cudjoe was the man on target for Paradise Invaders.
