8th Digicel Schools Football Championships…
Kaieteur Sports – The eighth season of the Digicel’s Schools Football Championships continues today with six matches across six Regions, with the highlight of the day being the Region 4 East Coast finale.
At the Buxton Ground, President’s College and Buxton will lock horns at 14:30 hrs to decide who is crowned the East Coast Regional Champion. For their efforts this far, both teams have already qualified for the upcoming National Championships.
In Region Two at Tapakuma Ground, the action kicks off at 13:00 hrs as Aurora meet Abraham Zuil in the first match of the double header, which has Johanna Cecilia and Cotton Field going head-to-head from 14:30 hrs.
Region Five’s only match commences at 14:30 hrs at the Rosignol Community Centre Ground with Bush Lot battling Mahaicony.

Region Six also has a double-header with matches scheduled for the Scott Ground and 14:30 hrs and 16:00 hrs. The first match features Vryman’s Erven clashing with Central Corentyne while the other match will see Tutorial collide with Canje.
In the tournament’s most recent playing date, Canje defeated Corentyne Comprehensive 4 – 3 on penalty kicks are playing to a 2 – 2 stalemate while New Amsterdam Multilateral blasted 14 unanswered goals past Port Mourant.
Berbice High won 3 – 2 against Tagore Memorial and Berbice Educational Trust dismantled Lower Corentyne 11 – 1.
On the East Bank, Diamond Secondary crushed Supply 16 – 0 while in Georgetown, West Ruimveldt defeated St. Joseph 4 – 0 and Excelsior Academy trounced Tucville, 6 – 0.
In Region 1, Santa Rosa defeated Waramuri in a nail-biter on sudden death penalty kicks, 1 – 0, after they were deadlocked at 1 – 1 at regulation time while Hosproro squeezed past North West 2 – 1.
In Region 2, Charity got past 8th of May 5 – 3 while Anna Regina sank Wakapoa 4 – 1.
This country wide tournament is organized by the Petra Organisation.
