Dear Editor,
This Local Government Election 2023, I cast my first ever vote. Guyana’s political culture has long been chronicled with a myriad of feelings. We are in a time where there is an immense hunger for a new political culture. We deserve more, we DEMAND more. NOW is the time. NOW is the chance, to carve out this new culture: The one that we’ve been yearning for, for us and for generations yet unborn. Tomorrow, make your X based on policies, programmes.
Choose your representative with a track record of progress and with a penchant for accountability. 2023 must be the final nail in the coffin of Apaan Jaat. Any leader who uses their platform for race baiting, and inciting violence…MUST be cast out from our society. The darkness of our past MUST come undone. Emissaries of discord, division and violence will NOT define our new generation of politics. The era of street violence, “slo fyaah” and race hate must and will be buried in the past. The future is on the horizon, and it’s what we’ve long been yearning for. I know who I’m voting for. Do you?
Regards,
Nikhil Sankar
