Dear Editor,
I wish to use this media to state my dissatisfaction with an aspect of the Road Repair Project in Third Street Industry Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara.
I was very happy to learn that the street was being repaired after years of neglect but when the project started, I realised that there is a serious fault with the design. This project, in addition to recapping, included concrete drains. This is where the problem started. The digging of the drains to build concrete drains has resulted in the weakening of fences for those who have concrete fences. More seriously, residents who already spent a lot of money to build their own concrete drains (with NDC approval) have to see their drains dug up and rebuilt with a faulty design.
What is the Faulty Design? The inner walls of the drains are much lower than the outer, at least six inches and this silly design shall lead to considerable erosion of the land. I hope someone very Senior take a detailed look into this project since hundreds of millions of tax payers dollars are involved and several complaints to the Ministry are ineffective.
Thank you.
