Kaieteur News – While we are accustomed to changing and rearranging our homes around this time of the year, ladies, it would not hurt for you to treat yourselves to a makeover this Christmas. Get the hairstyle you always dreamed of from ‘Addictive Beauty’.
‘Addictive Beauty’ was established in 2018, and is owned by the talented 28-year-old Brianca Gillis. Guided by her passion a mastery of the hair, Brianca and her team at Addictive Beauty are in the business of creating hairstyles that make you feel your best. They cater for all your hair needs and will have you looking glamorous for that special occasion.
At Addictive Beauty, they specialize in Fabulous.
Gillis in an exclusive interview with this magazine related that being in the beauty business was no surprise, since it was something that grabbed her attention ever since she was younger.
“I was inspired by two things, when I was younger and going to the salon, I always loved that feeling you get when your hair is all up you get that extra spark. I realised it was something I loved. When my family and friends would ask me to do their hair, I would always be happy to do so,” she told this magazine.
Gillis added that soon after she realised that this was something she wanted to pursue, she went about developing her knowledge and skills in hair artistry. She went to Trinidad where she did her first hair course and this set her on the path to becoming an entrepreneur. She decided to open her own business back in 2018.
Now she not only specializes in hair design and styling, she is also working on natural hair products that treat and preserves natural hair. “I already have a hair growth oil on the market that’s been going so well that I will be putting out more soon,” she mentioned.
Ever since the launch of her business, the young woman said that her support base has been great coming from her family and friends, “they all have been there to help me in some way or the other.”
Not forgetting the challenges, she faced over the years, Gillis disclosed that one the major challenges that stood out for her was not having enough capital to keep going. “Then when the pandemic hit, it was even harder cause you had to be on the safe side not going anywhere or having the money to keep going,” she added. But with God and the help of her family, Gillis never let the setbacks get in her way, she kept going.
Now she is on the verge of taking things to the next level. She has plans to take her beauty business throughout Guyana. “I wish to have my products in every town also to have my products in every supermarket and possibly worldwide,” she revealed.
Stating that young entrepreneurs such as herself make a meaningful contribution to the society today, Gillis is of the firm belief that “A lot of young entrepreneurs have much to give to society like, new products, natural stuff; most of them put the time and energy into their products and some will even provide jobs.”
Looking to see emerging businesses in our country prosper, our featured entrepreneur made mention that in order to boost small businesses locally, there must be greater access to capital to assist small businesses and to give them that lift and a little more spotlight.
