Kaieteur News – I must admit that the PPP Government has a proven skill for attracting the wrong kind of people, and then hold them close to the bosom. Look at one Leader in the PPP Government, and the only people that he can seem to have for friends and counselors are those who qualify to be on ‘Wanted’ posters for white collar (and other) crimes put out by the FBI and Interpol. This does not say much about the Leader himself, who some locals think is a Wanted Bulletin all alone.
The latest in the long line of PPP Government heroes is that fine fellow recalled from New Delhi, or wherever they caught up with him. I mean, how could he? The least anyone of us Guyanese should expect, must demand, from one of our senior diplomatic representatives is to be fair to the fairer gender, and decent with dogs. Good grief! It calls for a rare kind of character to kick both a woman and a dog in one fell stroke. That is, figuratively speaking, of course. But, from the video recording, I found myself swaying and ducking, as if in anticipation of a heavy blow coming. If one thing was evident about the former Guyana High Commissioner, it was that he exuded sinister menace, and someone not to be trifled with, or taken lightly.
How does the PPP Government come up with characters like these? And for High Commissioner of all jobs? There is appreciation that those who sell must receive their payback. Indeed, but now there is this most abnormal manner of returning a favor on the part of the High Commissioner to the PPP. The President and Vice President thought they were doing the smart thing by shipping out the High Commissioner all the way to India. The thinking was that there is no way that he could get himself into trouble in such an environment. He couldn’t until he actually did, and it is a winner.
All the now former High Commissioner had to do was pick a fight with someone from the lowest caste, an unofficial ‘untouchable’, and he himself would have been untouchable. The Indians would hardly have stirred a sweat; and, to push the envelope a little, if he had clashed with and verbally clobbered a non-Hindu, few in India would have cared, except for the abused and victimized. The spiritual persuasion of Guyana’s head-of-state would not have mattered, and the erring High Commissioner would have survived to carry his ugly brawlinginto another day.
This saga in India furnishes new evidence that the PPP Government likes to surround itself with men who wage war on women. Those who don’t kick their spouses, kick them out of the house. Another one, a little lower down on the power pole, had shot some girlfriend of his in the belly, and the Guyana Police had to wash its hands of the matter. Like the fallen High Commissioner, the PPP comrade was in an out of the way location, one of our local regions, but still the discipline of managing self was too much.
Who are these people? More importantly, who are the PPP leaders that see some value in them? They could be in Guyana’s Parliament, in faraway India, or in a remote local region, and it is the same story of PPP Government men who can’t control themselves, and who see the world as their castle, and that it should be at their feet. Recall that other muscular Guyanese member of the PPP’s camp, the Duke of Dildo, who went out of his way to insult local womanhood. Where does the Government get people like these from? From under which rock did these frightening creatures crawl? How is it that they can do no wrong for the PPP Government, which likes to tout how much it is for sisterhood, the simple people, and straight shooters.
It is revealing that a President who claims to be about transparency makes himself and regime look more tattered, in that this sordid episode was kept secret for over a year. Now that the High Commissioner has been recalled, I wait to see his next big job.
