Kaieteur News – Two thieves were jailed for 59 months each when their case wrapped up at the Diamond/Golden Grove Magistrate’s Court last week.
Twenty-three-year-old Ravindra Singh, aka ‘Chowmein’, of Farm Sea Dam, East Bank Demerara, and 23 year-old Kevin Cush aka ‘Max’ of Herstelling Sea Dam, East Bank Demerara, were arrested and charged on August 29, 2022 for break and enter as well as larceny on the premises of a home owned by an unnamed couple.
They were placed on trial at the Diamond/Golden Grove Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Sunil Scarce, where their charges were read to them and the Administrative Justice Act (AJA) applied. They were both found guilty and were both given a sentence of 59 months imprisonment.
The two men were also be charged for another break and enter and larceny offence, which was committed only days before their arrest. The burglary took place on the dwelling house of a male resident of Farm, EBD. Ravindra Singh pleaded guilty and was given an additional sentence of 24 months imprisonment, which will run consecutively with his previous sentence of 59 months. Kevin Cush however, pleaded not guilty. The matter was adjourned to November 28th 2022 for further statements.
