GMR&SC’s International Drag Race Meet…
– Guyana endures tough first day
Trinidad’s Sheldon Bissessar owns the 1320 strip record after shattering the old benchmark of 7.501s with a 7.208 time during yesterday’s dial in session of the International Drag race.
Late in the afternoon, the machine ran the time with former strip record holder Team Mohamed’s Godzilla GTR and their Pro-Mod car both not able to set matching times.
It was a tough day for Team Guyana with Kong Supra as well as the Daby RX7 also suffering issues.
Things did not look better in the Trans Pacific camp with their Alteeza also failing to put down a representative benchmark.
While the qualifying for the 14-second, 15-second and 16-second classes were completed, a large part of the 140 competitors did not show up for the optional test day.
However, the day ran smoothly with those turning up to getting their first official taste of the surface.
Elsewhere, the Surinamese and their machines were dialed in and ready for today’s classification sessions following several runs.
Fans will surely be in for a fire-cracker today when action gets going from 08:00 hrs with the remaining qualifiers followed by the elimination from noon.
Tickets are being sold at the gates and are $1000 per child and $2000 per adult. The VIP and VVIP tickets are $30,000 and $40,000, respectively, and are all inclusive.
