Kaieteur News – A group of men attending a funeral procession on Monday scattered and left a .32 Tauraus pistol behind
when police ranks turned up.
According to police, the ranks on the scene were acting on a tip and decided to visit the funeral procession that was being held at Princess and Victor Streets, Georgetown.
Police reported that when the ranks arrived, a group of men who were standing in the street started running in various directions.
Ranks gave chase but subsequently stumbled on the illegal weapon on the ground where the men had been standing. Ranks said the illegal firearm did not contain a magazine. As it relates to the group of men who escaped, police were able to arrest one of them who is said to be 23-years-old.
The matter remains under investigation.
