AIBA World Boxing Championships
Kaieteur News – Caribbean and 2020 Tokyo Olympian Keevin Allicock lost to Rujakran Juntrong in the Featherweight (57kg) division in the 2021 AIBA World Boxing Championships at the Stark arena in Belgrade, Serbia, yesterday.
Boxing in the fourth bout of the evening session on day four of the Championships, the 22-year-old Guyanese from the FYF Gym in Albouystown could not do enough to move forward in the competition.
Earlier in the afternoon session, United States’ teenager Jahmal Harvey delivered the main upset of the session when he eliminated Uzbekistan’s defending AIBA World Champion Mirazizbek Mirzakhalilov to advance in the Featherweight division.
Guyana’s other hope to advance to medals rounds; Desmond Amsterdam will go into action tomorrow. Efforts to get a comment from GABA Technical Director Terrence Poole, Coach of the Guyanese pair, proved futile.
