Kaieteur News – The Edinburgh Village in Berbice is set to be buzzing with sports with the formation of the East Bank Berbice Sports Club that was formed on August 29th this year.
The EBBSC that is headed by William Farley have set out to not only promote the development of Sports in the community but also to enhance the community as a whole.
In an invited comment with Kaieteur Sport, Farley mentioned that all are welcome, even from other communities to join the EBBSC that is based in the Edinburgh Community Center ground and the club is committed to help in any way possible the members of their community with any assistance they may need.
Farley mentioned that himself and the club are very passionate about promoting women sports and women in sports and in order to help foster that inclusivity the entire elected executive of the EBBSC except himself are all women.
The other executive members include first vice-President; Deborah Ward, second vice-President Veera Latiff, Treasurer; Deyon Taylor, Asst. Treasurer; Christina Seepersaud, Secretary; Oshelle Welch and Assistant Secretary; Tameda August.
Farley mentioned that currently, there is a lot of work needed to be done on the ground which has the potential to host cricket and football matches and the marked out solid surface for Basketball, Volleyball and Tennis.
However, rehabilitative works along with equipment is needed for the Community Center to reach its full potential and Farley has already began to engage the relevant stakeholders to reach that goal.
