Dear Editor,
It was good to see the chief citizen has come out swinging against the vile and vicious social media attacks purported against a sitting minister of government (INews September 14).
While the comments and stance must be commended in that matter, it has to be observed that a similar stance was absent in dealings with the recent appointment of the acting Town Clerk. Even though comments in this matter in no way bordered on the vile and vicious, crass and distasteful, certain actions and comments, however, can be viewed as disappointing, disrespectful and scoring ‘cheap political points ‘.
The chief citizen is right ‘women form the backbone of our nation’ and ‘must not be used or abused for cheap political points ‘. The political colleagues of the chief citizen would do well to take heed of this.
