DEAR EDITOR,
Kaieteur News – Please permit me to draw to the attention of the people as well as the Government of Guyana a very serious problem. Through the columns of your esteemed newspaper, the problem is about the increased crime at Stabroek Market and other places.
My friend was travelling on Sunday March 14, 2021 around 7:00 am, as he approached the Vreed-en-Hoop, Stabroek Market boat crossing, two men attacked him with guns, took away his mobile phone, cash, other valuables and left him in a state of panic. At this stage there is a need for a more active presence of the Guyana Police Force as well as high-definition security cameras installed and maintained at the Stabroek Market and other areas across this beautiful country. I want to be able to walk the Stabroek Market and many other parts of this country without fear.
Yours sincerely,
Elton A. Smith
