DEAR EDITOR,
Kaieteur News – In his letter “We are all victims of the divide and rule policy” letter-writer Hamilton Green seeks to lay the blame on our predicament on British Imperialism thereby absolving himself and the PNC of any wrong doing.
The question that I have for letter-writer Hamilton Green is how exactly am I a victim of divide and rule? Yes, my life has changed because of the policy. But could it have been better?
At 50 years old I do not see my life as over as I feel that I can still make a meaningful contribution. Whereas I believe that Hamilton Green seeks to propaganda the unsuspecting Guyanese public. Not one word of apology has letter-writer Hamilton Green offered for the PNC nefarious activities yet he seeks to hoodwink us Guyanese.
That the British practiced divide and rule there is no denying. But nothing is stopping the PPP/C Government and the main APNU+AFC Opposition from acknowledging that they both are stakeholders entrusted in making Guyana into One People, One Nation, One Destiny.
When the PNC led APNU+AFC Opposition refuses to acknowledge the legitimacy of the PPP/C Government and the PPP/C Government refuses to sit down and talk with the Opposition Leader then I can safely say that they do not see each other as stakeholders but competitors for power.
Divide and rule policy of the colonial masters is not preventing us from uniting as a people. We are doing so ourselves.
Yours Faithfully,
Sean Ori
