Kaieteur News – A twenty-four-year-old man drowned in the Pomeroon last Friday, after he reportedly jumped in the Pomeroon River whilst intoxicated.
The man has been identified as Danny Hendricks, a labourer of St. Monica, Upper Pomeroon River, Region Two.
According to police reports, about 10:00hrs on Friday, Hendricks left for a nearby shop with a few friends, where they started to drink.
Sometime around 18:00hrs, Hendricks returned home. While on the landing, the intoxicated man met with his sister, Reena Hendricks, 13. The sister told police that her brother suddenly jumped overboard, but did not resurface.
Neighbours were alerted and about 09:00hrs yesterday, the body of Hendricks was fished out of the Pomeroon River.
Police do not believe that foul play was involved.
