DEAR EDITOR,
My daughter, Zalimoon Khan, applied to GTT for a phone line since Feb.17, 2020 and after about hundreds of calls since then, to date she has not been able to get a phone from GTT. And despite the fact that her home which is situated at lot 20, Nigg Road South, Corentyne, Berbice had a phone a few years ago, but was disconnected by GTT when the house was renovated, yet when she asked them to come and reconnect the phone after the renovation was finished, she was told that they gave the line to someone else and that she will have to reapply for a new line. Well as I said, it’s been six months now and she is still waiting for a phone.
It’s a pity in this time and age this country has one telephone company which can provide land line services to its citizens. If we had more than one company my daughter would have gotten a phone line a long time ago. Time to break this monopoly.
Yours faithfully,
Imtiaz Baccus
