DEAR EDITOR,
Like most people who have been following the actions and inactions of GECOM and the Secretariat, I am deeply suspicious of their modus operandi.
There is overwhelming evidence that the Secretariat, at every level, is infested with APNU+AFC operatives. Before Justice (Ret’d) James Patterson was evicted for illegally occupying the Chairmanship of GECOM, he fully implemented the structure to rig the election.
He faithfully carried out the job he was assigned to do. He earned his title as the ignominious judge.
That left the Commissioners to faithfully carry out their statutory and fiduciary duty to deliver a fair and transparent election result expeditiously.
However, none of this is coming from the APNU+AFC Commissioners. They have installed every conceivable hurdle to obfuscate and stall the process.
It was hoped that Claudette Singh, as the supposedly honest broker and tie breaker, would have acted and, be seen to act, impartially and with utmost urgency.
Her actions so far leave much doubt. It is either that she is a woeful incompetent administrator or her intentions are less than honourable.
How can anyone trust these people to carry out the recount of the ballots? The PPP/C publicly displayed the results borne out by the Statements of Poll. The APNU+AFC refuses to display the results of the SOPs in their possession because they will show that they lost the election.
The conspirators at GECOM and the Secretariat will not voluntarily recount the votes to prove PPP/C’s victory and APNU+AFC’s defeat.
I believe that they will use the count as an opportunity to broaden the scope of the fraud or conveniently orchestrate substantial delays and irregularities to facilitate court challenges.
Claudette Singh refuses to pay heed to national and international calls for the removal of the corrupt personnel at GECOM Secretariat. She must know that there is strong and overwhelming evidence for Lowenfield, Myers and Mingo to have no further involvement in the election process.
Does Claudette Singh, as a retired judge, need to be reminded that every election officer swore an oath that they will faithfully perform their duties according to law, without partiality, fear, favour or affection?
Her continuing failure to diligently carry out her statutory and fiduciary duties is laced with suspicion of complicity. Many are beginning to believe that she is part of the seamless integration of APNU+AFC, their three Commissioners and the GECOM Secretariat.
