DEAR EDITOR,
It is with great concern I highlight GTT’s installation practices.
GTT has in the past and is currently installing internet services at the request of tenants without first obtaining the permission of the owner of the property.
I believe that this is an illegal practice since the installation of internet, telephone, electricity, water services, etc. should and must be approved by the property owner regardless if the service is being provided in the name of the tenant.
I am a landlord and have experienced in the past a tenant obtaining internet service without my permission and knowledge and when they moved out there was a large outstanding sum.
I learnt of this illegal/unauthorized service after the new tenant approached GTT to obtain internet.
I was told by GTT that the amount outstanding had to be cleared regardless of it being in my name before they can process an application for the same address.
Of course, the old tenant refused to pay and the new tenant was anxious to obtain internet as such I the Owner had to pay the sum outstanding so that I would not lose the new tenant.
