Allicock to headline Terrence Alli Nat. Open Boxing C/Ships

Caribbean Bantamweight champion ‘Lightning’ Keevin Allicock will the headliner at the Guyana Boxing Association’s (GBA) Terrence Alli National Open which will be held at the National Gymnasium from November 1-3 starting at 19:00hrs each night.

The gifted 20-year-old from the heart of Albouystown has not fought in Guyana since February when he out-boxed his Trinidadian opponent in the Patrick Ford Memorial. Earlier this year Allicock just missed a Pan American Games medal by a few points in Lima, Peru when, fighting in the Bantamweight quarterfinal bout against Uruguay’s Lucas Fernandes, the lightning fast Forgotten Youth Foundation (FYF) pugilist, despite the narrow loss put on a stellar performance.
His participation in the Terrence Alli Championships will be his last for a while in Guyana since he would be sent to undergo specialised training overseas.
The National Open Championships will be used to select Guyana’s team to participate at the Caribbean Championships scheduled for Trinidad from December 4-9 and a few ‘big’ name boxers will match gloves in what is the last GBA’s Tournament for the year.
In addition to Allicock, Caribbean champions, Middleweight ‘Dynamite’ Desmond Amsterdam and Lightweight Jamal ‘The Beast from Berbice’ Eastman will be on show in a tournament which will see Gyms from all over Guyana participating.
Eastman won the Caribbean title with a single punch that dropped his Trinidadian opponent last year in Guyana while President of the GBA, Steven Ninvalle informed that an added attraction to next week’s competition is former Caribbean Champion, Light Welterweight Colin ‘Superman’ Lewis.
The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) is the defending champion and entrance fee is $500 for Stands and $1000 for Ringside.
