The government of Guyana has notified, in the August 17, 2019 edition of the Official Gazette, of its naming of several State Boards.
In the Prime Minister Sector, the Board of Directors for the Guyana National Newspaper Limited (GNNL) was named to govern for a period of two years, with effect from June 5, 2019 to May 31, 2021.
The Chairperson of GNNL’s board is Juretha Fernandes, and the other directors are Terrence Moore, Amar Panday, Dawn Gardner, Nicola Trotman, Ernestine Leonard and Ganesh Mahipaul.
In the Public Security Sector, the Board of Directors for the Parole Board was named to act for a period of two years with effect from July 1, 2018. The Chairperson is Justice (ret’d) Oslen Small, the Secretary is Gordon Smith, an Ex-Officio Member is the Director of Prisons, and the other directors are Dr. Bhiro Harry, Sylvia Conway, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Rabindra Chand, Samuel Dasraj, Deoram Timram, Ayube Mohamed, and Indranauth Persaud.
In the Public Infrastructure Sector, the Board of Directors for the Cheddi Jagan International Airport Corporation (CJIAC) was named to govern for a period for a period of one year with effect from August 1, 2019 to July 31, 2020.
The Chairperson is Stephen Fraser, two Ex-Officio Directors are the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Public Infrastructure and the Chief Executive Officer of the Corporation, and the other directors are Nicola Layne, Gracelyn George, Berkley Wickham, Trevor Benn, a representative of the Parliamentary Opposition, and Lt. Col. Courtney Byrne.
In the Presidential Sector, the Board of Directors for the Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission (GLSC) was named to act for a period of three (3) years with effect from March 1, 2019. The Chairperson is Paulette Henry, the Vice-Chairman is the Commissioner of GLSC, and the other directors are Randolph Storm, Maurice Gajadhar, Patrice La Fleur, Norwell Hinds, Wilfred Brandford, Joel Trotman, Judah Louisy, Leon Rutherford, a representative of Guyana Association of Professional Surveyors, a representative of the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, and a representative of the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA), which falls under the Ministry of Communities.
The four observers on this Board are representatives from the Guyana Defence Force, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Business, and the Ministry of Natural Resources.
In the Agriculture Sector, the Board of Directors for the Pesticides and Toxic Chemical Control Board was named to act for a period of two (2) years with effect from July 1, 2018 to June 30, 2020.
The Chairperson is Dr. Leslie Munroe, the Secretary and Registrar is Trecia David-Garnath, and the other directors are Dr. Raghunauth Chandranauth of the National Agricultural Research and Extension institute (NAREI); Chief Labour Officer at the Ministry of Social Protection, Charles Ogle; representative of the Ministry of Public Health, Senior Environmental Officer, Odessa Duncan; Assistant Commissioner at the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA), Yonette Helliger; Owen Bovell from the University of Guyana’s Faculty of Agriculture; and Monique Ifill, the Corporate Secretary of the Guyana Livestock Development Authority (GLDA).
In the Natural Resources Sector, the Board of Directors for the Guyana Forestry Commission (GFC) was named to govern for a period of one (1) year with effect from March 1, 2019 to February 28, 2020.
The Chairperson is Jocelyn Dow, and an Ex-Officio member is Commissioner of Forest, James Singh. The other directors are Latchmin Punalall, David Singh, Clayton Hall, Audwin Rutherford, Vanessa Kissoon, the Legal Officer of the GFC, a representative of the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission (GGMC), a representative of the Forest Producers’ Association, a representative of the Ministry of the Presidency, a representative of the Ministry of Indigenous People’s Affairs, a representative of the Guyana Manufacturers and Services Association, and a representative of the Ministry of Agriculture. A representative of the Ministry of Business will sit as an observer.
