After seven months into the year 2019, there has been an increase in murders on the Essequibo Coast.
Based on a police report presented to this publication, there have been eight murders over the past seven months of 2019 as compared to four in 2018.
Of the murders, five have been solved while one case is still unsolved. This publication understands that there has not yet been any conviction for the murders.

The Minister also noted that the Guyana Police Force will be working closely with the customs authority, to ensure the unlicensed liquor shops are dealt with.
