May 14, 2019 Letters
DEAR EDITOR,
I write to address a publication made on May 9, 2019 from one of our valued customers, who wrote to express his frustration at the long lines at our stores. To be clear, we share the sentiments expressed!
To have to spend the time to go down to one of our stores, join a line, and wait for over an hour to make a payment, is totally unacceptable in 2019. Because we agree with this, we have put in place several options for our customers so that they do not have to join any line at our stores.
– Mobile Money Guyana: Many of our customers pay their GTT (and other utilities’) bills using our mobile money solution and payments via MMG are applied to their GTT accounts immediately. Payments can be made using their smart phones by simply downloading the app from the Play Store www.bit.ly/MMG-AP-KNor at any of our 175 agents nationwide. The list of our agents can be found at www.bit.ly/MMG-AGENTS-KN
In Georgetown alone we have 59 agents, and there is at least one agent within 1 mile of every customer in Georgetown.
– MyGTT: Another option that our customers who have debit or credit cards issued by Visa or MasterCard appreciate, is the option to pay their bills online or using the mobile app. These payments are applied to their accounts immediately. Payments online can be made at www.bit.ly/MTGTT-WEB-KN
For those who prefer a more mobile experience, they can start by downloading the mobile app by using this link www.bit.ly/MYGTT-APP-KN
– Payment Agents: For those customers who prefer a retail experience, we have relationships with trusted partners who accept payments on our behalf. These partners include the following: SurePay, Bill Express, Republic Bank, Scotia Bank, Citizen’s Bank, GBTI, Bank of Baroda, Demerara Bank, and the Post Office.
Though payments at these agents are not applied to customers’ accounts immediately, they are convenient options for many of our customers.
Though we will do our best to make our customers feel comfortable should they choose to come down to our stores to pay their bills, we know time is precious, and is better spent with loved ones. We will continue to add to the list of options our customers can use to pay their bills, from the comfort of their homes.
Sincerely
Orson Ferguson
