Master Max Massiah (standing centre) with the successful students following their grading exercises.
Saturday March 30 is etched into the Maxido Adult Self-Defense System’s annals as truly memorable. It was the day the largest batch of students (25), in the most number of levels (5), were tested in their proficiency of Maxido Self-defence techniques learnt over the past 6 weeks, acquiring a 100% student pass-rate, under the eyes of Founder & Chief instructor, Guyanese-born Master/Sensei /Shihan Max Massiah, & the Executives of the United Caricom Martial Arts Federation (UCMAF) namely Grandmaster Cromwell, Masters Williams & Murray, from Trinidad, and Christopher Norville of Guyana, who were invited as observers.
Of the students, 11 were tested for Yellow, 2 for Orange, 2 for Green, 6 for Blue, and 4 for Purple.
The MAXIDO system, founded by the veteran Martial Artist, was specifically structured for the targeted & vulnerable, which includes Seniors, (abused or threatened) females, business owners, professionals, law enforcement, & security, to enable themselves to effectively defend from a physical attack/confrontation, by applying techniques designed for modern-day attacks, to subdue, dislocate, or break the limbs of the aggressor, in under 3 seconds. The system has already garnered tremendous respect Worldwide, and is rapidly growing, for its no-nonsense, devastating effect if and when applied.
The students, aged between 20 and 72, displayed focus, calmness, precision of technique, and delivery with intent – the expected application of response sought for by the Chief Instructor. The event was witnessed by relatives, friends, and other Martial Artists. One student of the Black Hawks Martial Arts Academy took the opportunity during invited comments, to applaud the fact that what his eyes accommodated, blew him away, and stressed the fact of the quality, realism, & uniqueness of Maxido is normally expected of some Japanese Legend, but is overwhelmed by the fact of it being founded by a Guyanese.
“Wows”, “ooohs”, and “oh jeez” were some of the exclamations heard from the audience, who were thoroughly entertained by the students, and by Master Max who demonstrated the Green belt techniques to the audience and the UCMAF executives, of what is to be expected by the students.
The students (a mixture of Attorneys, professionals, Police, Security, workers, business owners, including 7 over the age of 55 – the eldest male 72, eldest female 61), were loud in praises for their Instructor, a humble 5th degree Black belt, who is also a 5-time Martial Arts Hall-of-Famer, 2-times Hall-of-Honor, 2 times Masters of Martial Arts awardee, & member of the World Council of Black belts, International Board of Black belts, with most acknowledging a tremendous & significant change in their lives, mostly of an upsurge in overall mental, spiritual, & physical confidence.
The system experiences a growth rate of 25% each class, with 90% of students continuing for advanced levels of training.
The next class, which begins Monday April 15, will run for 7 weeks, with training schedules being 2 hours per day, three times per week.
