Guyana is often referred to as a land of six races although in reality it is a land of many ethnicities. In the coming weeks the ethnic divide is going to be even more divided, as some criminal-minded people are going to attack hapless victims.
Initially the politicians would seek to gain political mileage out of these attacks until the police begin to make arrests and reveal these are crimes of opportunity.

And a criminal is never far away. The harsh reality is that every young criminal is armed with a gun, courtesy of the porous borders. Over the next few days the police are going to recover more weapons than they have ever done for the corresponding period in any year.

The invasion of foreigners would add a new dimension to Guyana’s landscape. Not only will these people mingle, they would enter the criminal underworld.
The police would arrest two foreigners who would execute a robbery in the heart of the city.
