Spartans chalked up 86 games to win the final of the David Hunte Dominoes competition which was contested recently at Pouderoyen, West Bank Demerara.
All Season’s Racing Service who drew they bye to the final, placed second with 77 games, while GT finished third on 70. Spartans were led by Shawn McKenzie and Gordon Steven with 16 games each, while Raymond Ali made 16, Navin Singh and Dane Bynoe 15 apiece for the runner up side. David Hunte marked 15 for GT.
GT won the semi final encounter with 80 games ahead of Spartans on 79 and Providence 66. Hunte made 16 gamed for GT while Amanda Singh made the maximum 18 games for Spartans. Shawn Davis and Junior Smith made 15 each for Providence. Spartans took home a trophy and $120,000, while All Season’s Racing Service received a trophy and $60,000 and GT $20,000.
Meanwhile, Georgetown Dominoes Association will be hosting a tournament tomorrow in honour of its President Faye Joseph at her residence, Gaulding Place, South Ruimveldt. Entrance fee is $10,000 and double-six time is 14:30hrs.
Trophy Stall of Bourda Market has thrown their support for the staging of the tournament. The entity has presented the first place trophy to Senior Organising Secretary of the GDA Mark Wiltshire. Wiltshire expressed gratitude to the entity and is urging all teams to be on time to facilitate a prompt start.
