Elections for positions on the Executives of the Berbice Cricket Board would now be held every two years instead of the current one year. Board Members voted 17 to 12 to amend the Rules of the Berbice Cricket Board. President Hilbert Foster along with members of his Executives successfully piloted the Motions. The first Motion passed was for the life of the Executives to be from the 1st January to end on the 31st December the following year, while the second Motion was to allow elections to be held every two years instead of every year.
Voting in favour of the Motions were Upper Corentyne Cricket Association, Kildonan Cricket Club, Port Mourant Cricket Club, one delegate from Albion Community Centre, Rose Hall Canje Cricket Club, Mt Sinai Cricket Club, Guymine Sports Club and Mental Hospital, while the West Berbice Cricket Association, Berbice River Cricket Association, one delegate from Albion Community Centre, Blairmont Community Centre and Chesney Cricket Club went against.
The Berbice Cricket Board had earlier in the month passed two other Motions to include the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club and the Young Warriors Cricket Club to its Membership by a 25 to 0 vote, while 22 to 8 votes were obtained for vacancies on the Berbice Cricket Board Executives to be filled at Special General Meetings.
Five Clubs, Rose Hall Canje Cricket Club, Mental Hospital Cricket Club, Guymine Sports Club, Kildonan Cricket Club and Mt. Sinai Cricket Club had requested a Special General Meeting of the Berbice Cricket Board. The Berbice Cricket Board was mandated to hold the Special Meeting within 21 days of receiving the request. The Motions for accepting the two new members and vacancies on the Executives were passed on the 2nd December, 2018, while the other two were deferred to another date on the request of the West Berbice Cricket Association. With elections to be held on a two years basis, the Berbice Cricket Board would now hold an Ordinary General Meeting between the election years.
Berbice Cricket Board President Hilbert Foster updated the delegation on the massive development taking place in the county. The Berbice Cricket Board in 2018 hosted a record breaking thirty tournaments at the Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, Under-19, Under-21, Female, Primary School and Secondary School, Double Wicket, Internal Zone, Second Division and First Division levels. The Foster led administration also hosted dozens of developmental programmes, while at the same time raising over $10M in cash and kind via an aggressive marketing drive.
The Berbice Cricket Board President urged the delegates to cooperate with each other as the main objective is to assist youths to fulfill their dreams as the duty of a Cricket Administrator is to create pathways for the next generation of players.
