The Guyana Police Force Band on Monday treated patients and staff of the Georgetown Public Hospital
Corporation (GPHC), to orchestral renditions of old seasonal favourites.
The band featured uniformed men and women armed with trumpets, trombones, clarinets, saxophones and flutes, spreading joy to all at the hospital. While the visit is an annual one, its effects are truly noteworthy; heartening to so many who initially appear downtrodden.
The men and women traversed the compound making a stop at the hospital’s Accident and Emergency department, then later to the teeming lobby of the Eye Care department. Visits were made to the Maternity Department as well as the Administrative building. Patients, doctors and nurses alike danced along with the music as the choir sang lustily.
The musical cadence intermixed with the sound of laughter manifested the true meaning of spreading joy in the season.
