Dear Editor,
I have written to Copa Airlines in the past to lodge complaints against the airport supervisor. To date, I have not received a satisfactory response so I am extending it to the media so that it can be publicly known that all of Copa’s talk of great service is simply rubbish.
Every time that I have to deal with the airport, it is a most disturbing experience. I have an auto parts store and it is constantly being suggested by the supervisor that better benefits can be had for discounts on tyres or gifts.
The young lady has replaced another Supervisor who was there from the beginning of service to Guyana so this poor level of service was not always the case at the airport. It was, however, always the case when the supervisor was at the city office. During the time, she was the sales representative, I tried to avoid being coerced to provide gifts by not dealing with her directly and instead go to the office itself.
I am appalled that after our group decided to pen the first letter, the supervisor asked us all for signatures to say that the claims were false. I did not sign but several of my colleagues were persuaded by her claims that she could lose her job if they didn’t help her.
I am highlighting this practice to the media because I am tired of this. The airline cannot keep boasting of great service and personnel when they choose to ignore what one of their staff members is doing daily.
Every time I have asked to see her for assistance at the airport, I am told she is in a meeting. So I rely on Ms Romona or Ms Jaisingh, who are excellent service providers. The question is this, if I provide gifts like my colleagues, will I get the first class service too?
A. Ally
