A 37-year-old lost his life after the tractor he was operating flipped over and killed him.Malone “Bill” Antonio was using a tractor to pull a truck that got stuck in the trail that leads to the Village of Moraikobai, Mahaicony River, Region Five (Mahaica-Berbice). The driver of the truck who witnessed the incident said that Antonio was using the tractor to pull the truck, and the truck was coming free for the most part, but there was a spot where he encountered some problems, and in an attempt to move the truck again, the tractor flipped backwards, pinning him down and killing him within minutes. The truck driver claimed that he immediately made attempts to free Antonio from under the tractor, but all his efforts proved futile.
A report was made and police from the E Division Traffic Department (Linden-Kwakwani) visited the scene and an investigation was launched. The driver is assisting with the probe and has since provided a statement.
The community of Moraikobai is an Amerindian settlement located up the Mahaicony River, which is also accessible from Linden, via sand trail which begins at the Linden-Highway junction.
