Dear Editor,
Once again in less than four months I have to publicly air my disgust with the manner in which GT&T extends its services to the Guyanese public
During the first four days of September, 2018 I visited the GT &T office at Camp and Robb Street,Georgetown. On enquiring about my landline bill amount (no bill was available as yet) When I asked for my DSL amount I was informed that it was doubled because there was some problem with GT&T ‘s accounting system which revealed that in some areas where the 4G connections were being introduced there was some level of under-accounting.l immediately stated that there was no 4 G connection in my area and as a result I should not be affected..
I asked to see the supervisor of the day who was Mr.Hinds (a very pleasant and accommodating young man) who gave me the same facts mentioned above. I immediately reminded him that I have a fixed amount package agreement which dictates that I pay a certain amount monthly and I have never defaulted on the agreement. Mr.Hinds then called one of his supervisors in my presence. After the discussion I was told that I only have to pay the agreed amount on the .monthly bill for September 2018.I was further assured that my service would remain intact.I went on to explain to them that even if there was an accounting problem it was inherent of the company to place advertisements to enlighten their customers and not surprise them as they did me.I was informed by the external supervisor that I will receive an explanation via my email or a phone call.To date, this was not received.
Today,October 04, 2018,I once again went to pay my bills and was informed that I have arrears and my DSL service can be terminated if I do not pay the extra demanded amount although my DSL bill is paid as per contract for October 2018.
Editor,my concern with this uncaring and callous attitude of GT&T reminds me of the bullying attributes of large corporations in non democratic countries. I have given verbal notice today that I am prepared to walk the corridors of justice to have this uncaring situation ameliorated. I am prepared to further this issue with the Public Utilities Commission.I will not pay one extra cent to GT&T.If their accountants cannot account properly, fire them.
The poor people of this country do not need another economic cross to bear.
Gt&T take note.
