Eight-time Guyana Open Men’s champion Avinash Persaud has secured sponsorship from Banks DIH Limited to compete at the Suriname Invitational Golf tournament billed for next weekend at the Paramaribo Golf Club.
The tournament will take place during October 6-7 in the neighbouring republic. The presentation of the sponsorship cheque was made to Guyana’s top golfer by Mr. Clifford Reis, Chairman/Managing Director of Banks DIH Limited during a simple ceremony at Thirst Park on Wednesday.
Mr. Reis, an ardent golf player said that Banks DIH Limited was extremely delighted to be sponsoring the reigning Guyana Open champion for his participation at the Suriname tournament which is expected to attract international competitors.
”We wish Avinash every success in Suriname. I am confident that the exposure will assist in his future development,” he added. Persaud who has held the Guyana Open title for four consecutive years also expressed confidence ahead of the tournament.
”My goal is to win the Best Gross at the event. I would like to thank Banks DIH Limited for sponsoring my participation in Suriname. Persaud who first won the Guyana Open at 16 years-old back in 2006 said he is sharpening his game for the prestigious tournament billed for November 4-5 at the Lusignan Golf Club at Lusignan, East Coast Demerara. He will join approximately 19 local golfers for the Suriname trip.
