An accident involving a truck and a container truck and trailer, has left one man counting his lucky stars after being pinned in the vehicle he was driving.
A witness to the accident said that the truck, bearing registration number GJJ 6539, was heading in the direction of Timehri, in the vicinity of Friendship, East Bank Demerara, when the vehicle collided with a trailer that was across the road at the time.
The eyewitness said the trailer was being pulled by a container truck registered GRR 6301, that was in the process of turning around at the time. It was reportedly dark at the time, and the turning vehicle seemed to have poor lighting, coupled with the fact that the trailer did not have side reflectors.
“I was sitting on my bridge, when I heard the loud crash, and I start to walk to the scene of the accident, I video the whole thing,” a young resident related to this publication.
The man driving the truck was only identified as “Rastaman”. He was thankful to persons on the scene who were quick to free him, after he found himself trapped in the cab.
