An early morning accident between a truck and car, on the Mocha Public Road, East Bank Demerara has left the car driver with a broken leg and arm, and the passenger being rendered unconscious.
The car, HC 3999, was said to be driven by Devindra “Benjie” Premnauth, who happens to be the owner of a taxi service, was proceeding in the western direction on the Mocha access road, while the truck (GVV 8446) driven by Nezamudeen Hussein was proceeding in the eastern direction, when in the vicinity of Mocha first bridge, the car attempted to overtake another vehicle and ended up in the path of the truck.
One witness who was at the scene, claimed he was driving behind the car (HC 3999) which was driving in a reckless manner around 07:00 hrs yesterday, when he saw the car attempt an overtake, and went head-on into the truck.
The truck made an attempt to avoid the oncoming car, but the speed of the car did not allow any escape.
The witness with the assistance of other public-spirited citizens eventually gave assistance to the driver and a young man who was in the car in an unconscious state. They were taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Center after which they were taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where they were both admitted in a critical condition.
Another taxi driver who was at the scene, claimed that this was the third car that the driver had wrecked in a similar manner.
