Dear Editor,
Employees of the Guyana Sugar Corporation have to go through a very inhumane and inconsiderate fate every month of not being paid their salaries on time.
There are bills – rents, mortgages and installments that need to be paid. Yet the management appears to have this “don’t care attitude”, because their salaries are huge and can cover them for the month and over.
What happens to the lower level who live from pay cheque to pay cheque? We all understand that the Corporation doesn’t have money but staff need to be paid for what they worked.
When asked when are salaries going to be paid they are only told “some time next week”. Mr. Editor what would happen to our family; our children going to school? Banks and auto dealers will step in and re possess. Is this how they intend to go forward to a resilient environment? Stressing employees?
I am pleading with the government and Management to look into this matter and let us receive our salaries on time.
Concerned staff.
