A one-year-old feud between 20-year-old Richard Noel and Timothy McKenzie, over Noel’s sister ended on Monday with McKenzie in the company of another friend, stabbing Noel in the vicinity of the Stabroek Bus Park. Noel died later that day as a result of injuries received.
The suspect and deceased were known to each other, both being residents of Kitty. Noel resided at 39 William Street, Kitty and McKenzie, at Thomas Street, Kitty. The two men first crossed swords a year ago, when McKenzie hit Noel’s sister, Tatyann Green, which resulted in the suspect and deceased getting into a fight.
Tatyann Green, who was the centre of this contention, told this publication, that as recent as last Sunday, McKenzie approached her brother (Noel) on the seawalls while (Noel) was with another brother and asked him if he wanted problems.
Her brother (Noel) did not take on the suspect and the two brothers left the seawalls.
Ms. Green said she learnt of what happened to her brother, from friends he was with at the time. Sometime around 1:15 pm on Monday, in the vicinity of the Number 32 and Number 42 Bus Parks on Cornhill Streets, Stabroek, McKenzie and Randy Bowen approached Noel and asked him if he wanted problems.
Noel walked away from the suspects, which seemed to aggravate the two suspects, causing them to go after Noel and stabbing him two times to the chest.
Noel fell to the ground. The suspects were then seen stomping Noel in the chest.
Noel was picked up in an unconscious state and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Cooperation (GPHC), where he was seen by a doctor and admitted in a critical condition.
Noel’s mother, Geranium Cliffe, was at the hospital around 9:00pm on Monday night, hoping that her son would have recovered when she received the news from doctors that her son died from complications in relation to his injuries.
Police in a statement had confirmed initial reports of a wounding committed on Richard Noel a vendor of Kitty, by Timothy McKenzie also of Kitty, but have since updated their statement to confirm Noel’s death at the (GPHC). Attempts were made to locate the main suspect at his home, but have since proven futile. Investigations are continuing.
