Twenty-six year-old Julian Knox appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts where a charge of attempted murder was read to him.
The court heard that last Wednesday (April 11) at Covent Garden, East Bank Demerara, Knox unlawfully wounded Keith Dalton with intent to murder him.
Prosecutor Gordon Mansfield stated that the charge stemmed from an incident in which the accused had a misunderstanding with Dalton and this escalated into a fight, where Knox wounded Dalton with intent to kill him. He was later arrested and charged.
The prosecutor said that Knox and Dalton live five houses apart and are familiar with each other.
Knox was placed on $250,000 bail and required to surrender his passport to the court. In addition, he has to report to the Timehri Outpost every Friday.
Knox’s next court appearance will be on April 30. In the meantime, he is prohibited from going within 50 feet of Dalton and cannot contact him by any means.
