Kemo Paul is congratulated by his Guyana & DCC team mate Sherfane Rutherford on reaching another landmark at Providence.
The President and members of the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) have expressed congratulations and best wishes to one of their members, Keemo Paul who was selected to the West Indies team for ICC World Cup qualifiers, currently being played in Zimbabwe.
The members of the Queenstown Club say Paul’s accomplishments come as no surprise. His elevation and progress is a testament to his hard work and the support structure of family, clubs, county and country.
That support has enabled him to exhibit excellence right throughout his junior career as is also evident in his brief stint at the senior level.
His achievements will motivate his peers and juniors at both the club level and those who hail from his hometown-island, Wakenaam.
In our excitement, we wish to advise that he grabs this opportunity with both hands and work even harder to realize his ultimate dream of playing for the West Indies at the Test level.
Continue to be an ambassador, continue to strive for excellence, keep that fire burning and remain humble, the Club said in a release.
The club would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate another member, Sherfane Rutherford who is one of the Guyana Amazon Warriors’ newest members for the 2018 edition of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL).
The 19-year-old Rutherford hails from Enmore on the East Coast of Demerara and is another one of DCC’s exciting talents to emerge over the years. His wishes him success and encourages him to strive for higher heights.
Foot note: Paul, who turned 20 on February 21, began his formative years in cricket in another Island in the Essequibo River call Saxacalli. If he makes the final X1 in Zimbabwe he will join Ronsford Beaton (2 ODIs) as the only Essequibo players to play in ODI cricket.
Ramnaresh Sarwan who played 181 ODIs, was born in Wakenaam but never played for Essequibo; representing Demerara where he lived since he was a toddler.
