On Thursday March 8, 2018, International Women’s Day will be celebrated. “Conversations With Selwyn” (CWS – Connecting With Stories) is hosting an event at the Marian Academy from 18:30hrs to 21:00hrs. The event will be hosted by Red Entertainment and aims to recognise the importance of women in the society; the need to honour them and to inspire the younger generation.
The remarkable women who will be sharing their experiences include keynote speaker Ms. Sherry Ann Dixon who is a Lecturer in areas such as confidence building and assertiveness, a Beauty Specialist, Radio Presenter and Managing Director of Sherry Dixon Consultancy, and Women on the Crossroads CIC UK.
Other speakers are Mrs. Rosalind McLymont, Editor-in-Chief of The Network Journal. She was an International Trade Reporter and the first female and first Black Managing Editor at The Journal of Commerce, at the time The Economist Group-owned shipping and global trade newspaper.
Dr. Asante Leblanc, a general practitioner and certified Medical Herbalist, a graduate of the University of Western Ontario and of the Institute of Medical Sciences of Havana, where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and her MD. Also Dr. Samantha Tross, who is a part of the six percent of all surgeons in the United Kingdom who are female and the first Black British woman to become a consultant Orthopedic surgeon.
Lady A. Anande Trotman-Joseph, a Guyana-born lawyer and gender equality advocate in Grenada who is a member of the Civil Society Advisory Group for UN Women’s Multi-Country Office for the Caribbean, is another speaker.
Minister within the Ministry of Natural Resources, Simona Broomes, who has meaningfully challenged policy makers and effectively highlighted many ills such as human trafficking exists in Guyana’s “gold bush”, will also be among the speakers.
Given the caliber of the speakers “Now – PressforProgress” promises to be an exceptional experience.
“Conversations With Selwyn” was founded in 2012 by Selwyn Collins who is an author, broadcaster, motivator and mentor; part of its mission is to empower people.
