The February 2018 Criminal Session of the Berbice Assizes opened yesterday with a ceremonial parade and salute in front of the Berbice High Court at Esplanade and Vryheid Road, New Amsterdam, Berbice.
Once again, looking smart and slick and ready for the occasion, the police contingent led by Assistant Superintendent Antonio Federicks, with parade Inspector Kwesi Gravesande, and Sergeants Randy Hamilton and Dexter Brandt, featured 24 other ranks from the Police ‘B’ Division.
The police contingent marched off from Police headquarters at Coburg Street and Strand, then proceeded along Strand New Amsterdam to the High Court.
The salute was taken by Justice Sandill Kissoon who is presiding in the February Criminal sessions of the Berbice High Court. Justice Kissoon was accompanied by Justice Gino Persaud who is presiding over the civil court in Berbice.
They were escorted by Divisional Commander of Police ‘B’ Division Assistant Commissioner Lyndon Alves. He was accompanied by Assistant Superintendent of Police Mark Vigilance, and the Officer in charge of the Guyana Prison Service in Berbice.
A number of other ranks accompanied the parade on the way.
