DEAR EDITOR,
News Flash! No Exxon company presence in Guyana. Wow!
The direction of the Oil & Gas Trade which is being pursued by the Guyana Leadership is destined to produce a failure beyond measure.
Why would a company presence be thought of when there is no purpose for its existence?
Someone needs to explain this conundrum.
This begs the question as to whether Guyanese will find employment in this hydrocarbon industry and which employment entity. What are the dynamics and mechanics of their payroll assuming local staff is recruited.
If the intention is to employ people via indirect method, workers will have no career here nor be pensionable. They will be Union-less.
Knowing what I know, their payments will not be reliable and they’ll be unable to do anything about it, whereas Exxon will have no record of names that performs for them.
You are now in the Third Class band.
John De Barros
