The two suspects wanted in connection with the shooting of three men at a wedding house at Hampshire Village, Corentyne, Berbice have turned themselves over to authorities.
Tameshwar ‘Rambo’ Khemraj, 31of Nigg Village, Corentyne, Berbice; and Devendra ‘Bara’ Harricharran, 31, of the same village both showed up at the Albion Police Station in the company of Attorney-at-law Mursaline Bacchus, yesterday morning.
They were both wanted in the shooting of Samuel Samaroo, 28, a driver/salesman attached to Banks DIH Ltd; Terry Ramsammy, a labourer of Hampshire Village; and Nicholas Beharry, also of Hampshire Village.
A senior police source said that a confrontation was held between the victims and the accused yesterday.
The suspects have since professed their innocence to the crime committed. Relatives of Khemraj are also claiming that he is innocent. His wife, mother, three-month old twin babies were all detained and kept overnight on Wednesday.
‘Rambo’ had reportedly made contact with the police stating that he will be turning himself in but was waiting on his attorney to accompany him.
In the initial story reported by this publication, one of the injured had relayed that the men were all armed when they arrived at the wedding house in Hampshire in two cars just around midnight a few days ago.
Khemraj and Harricharran were both identified by one of the injured men as shooters in the incident. It was revealed that the men showed up with a motive to shoot at them in a move influenced from an old grievance.
Samuel Samaroo, one of the injured men had explained that he saw ‘Bara’ standing with the gun in hand and at that moment he decided to make an attempt to un-arm him. A scuffle ensued between the two resulting in him being shot in the right arm.
Meanwhile, relatives of Ramsammy told Kaieteur News that he is still a patient at the New Amsterdam Hospital and is expected to spend another two weeks until recovery.
Beharry was discharged three days ago and is in the comfort of his home recovering while Samaroo is also recovering.
