Oct 19, 2017 Letters
Dear Editor,
I make reference to Gobin Harbhajan’s letter in KN edition of Oct. 15, 2017 titled “PM’s Berbice representative challenges PPP on Skeldon factory” simply because I observe that this misguided gentleman is bent on misleading citizens on the subject of sugar, which he seems to not comprehend. It is clear that, he is being mischievous and overpaid for the salary he is receiving seemingly through the Office of the Prime Minister. Readers would recall that I urged Mr. Harbhajan to use his evidence on juice dumping at Skeldon and the powers of his office to launch an investigation into this heinous act and charge those responsible persons because they are still in their respective portfolios instead of creating a circus in the print media.
In his most recent letter, Mr. Harbhajan now associates “wilful dumping of cane juice and the falsification of records” to the “PPP era” which was caused “by the way in which the factory itself was designed and constructed”. Editor, can this gentleman be more absurd? Who on the face of planet earth, will design and construct a sugarcane factory to dump cane juice wilfully? Worst yet, which sane person on planet earth will believe a processing plant is designed and constructed to dump its raw material, cane juice?
If Mr. Harbhajan cannot provide this nation with the findings of the juice dumping investigation and actions taken, it is logical to conclude that he is leading a circus about Skeldon. If, he is now saying that the factory was designed and constructed also to dump cane juice, he is simply displaying his level of non-intelligence. Use the evidence you have Mr. Harbhajan, and stop the circus. There are many super-salaried experts in GuySuCo’s top echelons that can conduct this investigation. By the way, GuySuCo received G$6B in 2014 and produced 216,359 tonnes of sugar. In 2017, it received, so far, G$11B and expectedly will produce 150,000 tonnes. Can you identify which period is more inefficient? This is not a trick question.
