Dear Editor,
The correspondent who addressed you under the captioned topic, “Guysuco’s Human Resource Director is talking nonsense” (KN July 06) would appear to have rushed himself into an indefensibly defence corner. His argument (if it can be so called) seems based more in ad hominem attacks than on factual evidence that could make such defence credible. As a consequence no value has been added to the discourse.
A more rational analysis would have logically suggested that there must have been substantial documentation accessible to this writer’s office, of the explicit technical and financial deficits of the “Skeldon elephant’, that would have been evaluated by both overseas and local experts, including the very Skeldon Energy Inc. to whom the Government sold the Co-Generation Plant in early 2015.
The record showed that the Plant was never commissioned, amongst other misdeeds; nor could your correspondent not possibly forget, when in desperation about its dysfunctionality, a past president announced in the press that he would personally go and run the factory himself.
But even the above item is a distraction from the reality of proving one’s virility by closing down production with strikes, the numbers of which are unmatched anywhere in this or any other industry, or economy. In the final analysis it is the preoccupation with reflecting our own mindsets that fails to objectively address the problems which confront all of us as citizens first; rather than as defenders of the indefensible.
E. B. John

By Sir Ronald Sanders (Kaieteur News) – For generations, Kenscoff was where people from Port-au-Prince went to breathe. Its cool hills offered relief, and its farmers supplied the capital’s markets.
