A 49-year-old driver was killed and four passengers injured after the vehicle in which they were traveling crashed into a parked truck at Dantzig Public Road, Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara, around 12.35 hrs yesterday.
Police identified the victim as Terrence Mc Donald of Lot 54 Bagots Street, Rosignol, West Coast Berbice.
One of the passengers, Saulita Malikish, 25, of West Coast Berbice, has been admitted to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
According to reports, Mc Donald was driving west at a fast rate along the southern side of the wet roadway, when he crashed into the left side of the parked lorry.
The driver and Malikish, were rushed to the Mahaicony Hospital in an unconscious state before being transferred to the GPHC’s Intensive Care Unit, where Mc Donald succumbed around 18.00 hrs. The other passengers were treated at the Mahaicony Hospital but were not admitted.
