Over $700,000 in prize monies and trophies will be up for grabs in this year’s Linden Zone of the Guinness ‘Greatest of the Streets’ Competition which kicks off tomorrow with eight matches, at the Mackenzie Market
Park, commencing from 19:00hrs.
Thirty-two teams including defending champions Team 25 will be vying for championship honours over six days of competition with the winners set to receive $400,000 and the championship trophy, while second, third and fourth placed finishers collect $150,000, $75,000 and $50,000 respectively.
The tournament will be played at three venues namely the Mackenzie Market Park, Silver City Hardcourt and Amelia’s Ward Hard Court and the dates and venues are seen below.
Tomorrow, Tuesday, Saturday May 5th matches will be played at the Mackenzie Market Park, while Thursday the action switches to the Silver City Hardcourt.
The Amelia’s Ward Hard Court is the venue for action on May 1.
Meanwhile, the teams that have registered so far are: Magic Stars, Swag Entertainment, Constab, Goal Getters, Main Street Panthers, Good Fellas, Unknowns, Araima Colo Colo, Team 25, Future Stars, South Stars, Hard Knocks, Mile Stars, Cherokee Park, Coomacka, High Rollers, Amazings, Silvertown All-Stars, Bourda All-Stars, Dream Chasers, Dave & Celina All-Stars, Speightland, Ripping Bullets, Jermaine’s and Family Silver Bullets, Attackers, High Stars, High Life Crew, Running Guns, Eagles, Trainline Warriors and Russians.
In opening night fixtures, reigning champion Team 25 will start their quest for a repeat when they face South Stars in what is anticipated to be a bruising battle.
The other matches will see High Rollers take on Silvertown All Star; Dream Chasers battle Speightland; Jermaine’s and Family Silver Bullets oppose High Stars; High Life Crew tackle Eagles; Amelia’s Ward Russians engage Constab; Main Street Panthers go up against Unknowns, while Dave and Celina All-Star and Ripping Bullets bring the curtains down in the final game of the night.
