Gandhi Youth Organisation, GNIC SC, Demerara CC and Transport SC registered victories when the Georgetown Cricket Association/ Guyana Diabetic Association U17 T20 tournament continued yesterday.
At Malteenoes SC, GYO defeated the host by six wickets. Batting first, Malteenoes SC were bowled out for 56 in 18 overs. El Nathan Suknandan and Movindra Dindyal took two wickets each. GYO responded with 57-4 in 12.2 overs. Yeudistir Persaud struck 35; Kester Mc Allister claimed two wickets.
GNIC SC beat St. Stanislaus by 34 runs. GNIC SC took first strike and made 110 all out in 19.4 overs. Dwayne Dick stroked 43 as Renny Hutson, Travis Thomas and Daniel Persaud captured two wickets each. St. Stanislaus were sent packing for 76 in 17.5 overs in reply. Dick and Romeo had 2-5 apiece, while Christopher Persaud took 2-8 and Akeem Williams 2-12.
At DCC, the host overcame Georgetown Cricket Club by 24 runs. DCC scored 119-6, taking first turn at the crease. Nkosie Beaton slammed 30 not out while Ashmead Nedd got 22. Stephon Wilson snared 2-12 and Aryan Persaud 2-20. GCC were restricted to 85-7 in response. Ansugga Rodrigues made 25; Nedd had 2-7 and Sachin Singh 2-11.
Transport SC beat Everest by nine wickets. Everest managed 85-7, batting first. Christopher Baljit made 25 and Ariel Tilku 18; Joel Spooner claimed 2-6 and Fidel Collins 2-15. Transport SC replied with 86-1 in 11.3 overs. Adrian Hinds struck 40 not out and Shamar Yearwood 15 not out. The competition continues today. (Zaheer Mohamed)
