After a while cycling action will return to the West Coast Berbice when the Flying Ace Cycle Club (FACC) of New Amsterdam stages a 40 miles cycle event on Sunday.

Kishore presents the donation to Former national Cyclist and club member Neil Reece, while Coach Randolph Roberts looks on.
The FACC, which is regarded as one of the top cycling clubs in the country, continues to receive assistance from former and current members both in Guyana and overseas.
The latest act of benevolence is coming from former member Tyrone Ray Kishore of Rosignol, West Bank, Berbice.
The former cyclist has come forward to sponsor the event which caters for club cyclists only.
The event will be known as the Troy’s Taxi Service cycle race. Kishore, who once competed in the late 1990 and early 2000s in the junior and senior categories, now operates the Taxi Service at Bennet Dam, Rosignol Village.
The event will peddle off from in front of the Taxi Service at Bennet Dam, proceed to Weldaad Police Station before returning to its place of origin.
Prizes will be available for the first four finishers, the first Juvenile, the first female, the first two vets, the first two 12-14 riders, who will be riding from Cotton tree to the finish line. There will also be a race for the BMK riders, while six sprint point prizes will also be up for grabs. Incentives will also be available for other outstanding performers.
Kishore was once a part of the batch of cyclists along with the Benjamin brothers and others from the ancient county that dominated the scene.
The former top cyclist, like a number of his other colleagues, is still a member of the club and would assist with numerous donations from time to time.
He is appealing to others including business persons to come on board and assist the club in keeping the cycling activity alive. He is also appealing to the Government of Guyana to assist in whatever way possible.
The presentation was made to former national cyclist Neil Reece and club founder and coach Randolph Roberts at a simple ceremony at the club’s headquarters in New Amsterdam.
Kishore further stated that over the years he recognized the excellent work Roberts has been putting in on a daily basis in keeping the sport alive in Berbice and as a former cyclist himself and a businessman, he is always willing to help.
Coordinator and coach Randolph Roberts took the opportunity to thank Kishore for remembering the club and wished him well in his future endeavors. He noted that cycling is an expensive sport and needs the support of the business community and other members of the community. It also helps to keep the youngsters gainfully occupied. (Samuel Whyte)
